NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER, FORT IRWIN, Calif. - New York Army National Guard Soldiers Sgt. Luke Zuercher (left) and Spc. Ryan Blount from the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team use maps, rocks and sand to create a sand table so brigade leaders can conduct briefings on the unit’s planned actions during its movement through the Fort Irwin’s National Training Center Exercise area. The unit arrived at Fort Irwin late in September, and is conducting simulated combat missions and stability operations in preparation for its deployment to Afghanistan in early 2012.
