BINGHAMTON, NY - Lt. Col. Jeffrey M. Cipolla passes the 204th Engineer guidon to Command Sergeant Major Daniel Ames for safe keeping during the Change of Command Ceremony for the 204th Engineer Battalion, Saturday, November 8.
Cipolla an Iraq War veteran and Bronze Star recipient assumed command from outgoing commander Lt. Col. Carlton C. Cleveland.
The 204th Engineer Battalion is the only engineer battalion in the New York Army National Guard and plays a significant role when the Guard responds to state emergencies.
Overseeing transition of command was Colonel Fred Kubus, Commander 153rd Troop Command. Ltc. Cleveland is slated to become operations officer for 53rd Troop Command in Valhalla, NY.
