Staff Sergeant Steven Hughes from Co. B, 642nd Aviation, New York Army National Guard, validates a known point on the Fort Drum compass course during Annual Training at Fort Drum. Hughes was checking the course to ensure that Soldiers of 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation, were getting accurate readings when they negotiated the course. The Soldiers of 3-142nd Aviation are training at Fort Drum until April 24 to prepare mobilization and deployment to Iraq this summer.

Prepare to Launch

Sgt. Garvin Berry of Company B, 642nd Aviation Support Battalion assists Sgt. Michael Broderick, a member of Company E 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation with aiming a M-203 grenade launcher down range for maximum effect at Fort Drum's Range 17-A. Members of the battalion are training at Fort Drum through April 25 as preparation for a deployment to Iraq later this summer. The 3rd-142nd Aviation, which has elements based in Latham, Albany County, and at Ronkonkoma on Long Island, will provide transportation support for Multi-National Corps-Iraq during a tne month deployment.
