Major John F. Sandefur, State Partnership Program Coordinator

Major John F. Sandefur currently serves as the State Partnership Program Coordinator for New York with her state partner, the Republic of South Africa. Concurrently, he serves as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G2 for the 42nd Infantry Division. Previous positions held include; Team Lead for 27 Military Engagement Team (MET), BDE S2 (deployed), BN S2 for an Infantry BN (deployed), Company CDR for BDE HHC, ACE chief, ACT Chief, Commander of Central Region Counterdrug Taskforce, Operations and Training Officer for Recruiting Command, Officer Strength Manager.

Military Education: Intelligence Basic Course (MIOBC), Infantry and Intelligence Officers Advance Courses, Combined Arms Exercise (CAX), Intermediate Level Education (ILE), Advanced Operations Course (AOC). Additional courses include the BDE S2 course, CI Managers Course, UAS Managers Course. He is a graduate of the Russian Basic Course at DLIFLC in Monterrey California.

Civilian Education: BA in Political Science and International Relations. Master’s in Business Administration.

Awards: include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal as well as the basic parachutist badge, pathfinder badge, and the combat action badge (CAB). Foreign awards include the Canadian Parachutist Badge and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).

Currently serves as the Bilateral Affairs Officer for New York’s state partner, the Republic of South Africa. Previous positions held include; Deputy Provost Marshal 42d ID, Operations Officer 42d DART, Operations Officer NY CERFP, Company Commander HHC 27th IBCT (Deployed), Company Commander 222nd Military Police Company, Company Commander C Co 1-108th IN, Platoon Leader A Co 3-124 IN (Deployed)

Military Education: Infantry Basic Course (IOBC), Infantry and Military Police Officers Advance Courses, Combined Arms Exercise (CAX). Additional courses Defense Support to Civil Authority, Antiterrorism Basic and Advance Courses.

Civilian Education: BA in Humanities and Community.

Awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
