CSM Mark H. Wilson, 642nd Aviation Support Battalion Command Sergeant MajorCSM Mark H. Wilson joined the United States Army on 25 August 1980. He attended Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri followed by 67N Advanced Individual Training at Ft Rucker, Alabama. CSM Wilson served 3 years in Delta Company, 8th Combat Aviation Battalion, Finthen Army Airfield, Germany. Immediately following his ETS from active duty in January, 1984, CSM Wilson joined the Connecticut Army National Guard, 1109th CT AVCRAD, Groton, Connecticut, serving as an aircraft technician and Aviation Life Support Equipment specialist.

In April, 1988, CSM Wilson transferred to Headquarters, 1st Squadron, 101st Cavalry, New York Army National Guard, Rochester, New York. During his service in the New York Army National Guard, CSM Wilson has served as a Platoon Sergeant/Charlie Company, 2/142d AVN BN, Production Control NCO/Delta Company, 3/142d AVN BN, Platoon Sergeant/Alpha Company, 2/142d AVN BN, First Sergeant/Alpha Company, 2/142 AVN BN, Production Control NCO/Mike Company, 158th AVIM BN (RC), First Sergeant/Bravo Company, 3/142d AVN BN, Operations SGM/Support Operations, 642d ASB, and current assignment as Command Sergeant Major/642d Aviation Support Battalion.

CSM Wilson’s deployments with the Army National Guard include IFOR/SFOR Operations, Bosnia/1996-1997, OIF II Balad, Iraq/2004-2005, OIF X, BIAP, Iraq/2008-2009, and OEF/KU, Camp Buehring, Kuwait 2013-1014.

CSM Wilson’s military education includes Officer Candidate School (OCS/CT Military Academy), Basic Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course, First Sergeants Course and The Sergeant’s Major Academy.

CSM Wilson’s Maintenance Operational Skills (MOS) and Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) schools include 67N UH-1 Helicopter Repair School, 67T UH-60 Helicopter Repair School, 15U CH-47 Helicopter Repair Transition Course, Aviation Life Support Equipment Course (Q2), Ground Accident Prevention Course (A2), Operational Support Course (C3), Instructor Training Course (ITC), ULLS-A(E) SASMO/Data Base Administrator Course and Master Fitness Trainer School (MFT/P5).

CSM Wilson’s awards and decorations include The Bronze Star Medal, The Air Medal, The Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device (3rd Award) and Silver Hourglass, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (4th Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award), Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, The American Legion Medal, Master Air Crewman Badge.

CSM Wilson immigrated to the United States from Great Britain on 05 June, 1969, settling in Waterbury, Connecticut. He became a United States citizen on 10 December, 1992 in Buffalo, New York. CSM Wilson is also a New York State certified Special Olympic Coach.
