Who we are...
The 174th Fighter Wing is a New York Air National Guard unit located in Syracuse, New York, adjacent to Hancock International Airport. The Wing has both a federal and state mission. The federal mission is to provide combat ready personnel, aircraft, and equipment for worldwide deployment. We deter, or attack and destroy, enemy surface and airborne forces, in support of joint operations. The state mission is to support civil authorities at the direction of the Governor in times of crisis.

What we fly...
The 174th Fighter Wing flies the state-of-the-art F-16C Fighting Falcon, a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft suitable for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The F-16 can reach speeds of 1,500 mph and can withstand up to nine times the force of gravity (or 9 G's). It has 9 stations that can carry a variety of air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground munitions, fuel tanks, pods and sensors.
