FORT JACKSON, S.C. -- New York Army National Guard Chaplain Candidate 1st Lt. Mark Getman delivers a sermon during Jewish Services March 28. Getman, from Lawrence, N.Y., is training to serve as the chaplain for the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery. With Getman at the military training course is Chaplain Candidate 1st Lt. Raziel Amar, from Brooklyn, N.Y. and assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation. The training program at Fort Jackson includes instruction for potential military chaplains to perform ramp services for fallen troops, field religious services and Soldier Counseling. Other training included Casualty Notification Duty, Grief Counseling, Religious Support for Mass Casualties & Battlefield Wounded.
