ELMIRA--Members of the New York Military Forces Honor Guard provide funeral honors for Sgt. Dougall Espey, a Korean War Soldier whose remains were identified only last year, during burial services Friday, April 3, at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
Espey died in November 1950 when Chinese Commnunist forces attacked his unit near Unsan, North Korea.
He was buried in his hometown on what would have been his 80th birthday.
"I'm glad we were able to bring him back here (Elmira)," said his sister Mariam Espey, 78, an Air Force nurse during the Korean War.
"He said when he left, he'd be home someday. Today we brought him home," she said.
