Air Guard Commander Retires

SYRACUSE-Major General Robert Knauff, outgoing Commnader of 6,000 men and women of the New York Air National Guard stands at attention as his command flag is furled for the last time, Thursday, Feb. 26 at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base.
Knauff, who was also Deputy Adjustant General for the New York National guard, retired after a 33-year career in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard.
A fighter pilot with more than 3,900 flying hours, Knauff was once commander of the 174th Fighter Wing, which is based at Hancock Field.
