ROCHESTER--Soldiers and family members of the New York Army National Guard's 27th Brigade Combat Team view a message from New York Governor David A. Paterson as they gathered Saturday, Feb. 21 to participate in the Guard's Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program.
In his remarks the Governor thanked the Soldiers for their service in Afghanistan and promised that the National Guard and other state agencies are there to help them if needed.
More than 700 Soldiers, spouses and family members met at Rochester's Riverside Convention Center to take part in the Reintegration program's 30-Day event.
A similar event will be held on Feb.28- March 1 at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, and in Tarrytown, N.Y., on March 6-7.
The event is designed to help Soldiers and their families determine the "new normal" after returning from a combat zone. More than 1,500 members of the 27th BCT spent most of 2008 in Afghanistan training the Afghan Army and Police
