Special National Guard Unit Changes Hands

GLOVERSVILLE-- New York Army National Guard Lt. Col. Martin Dinan, commander of the Auburn-based 102nd MP Company accepts the Guidon of the New York National Guard unit specially trained to deal with victims of chemical, biological, radiological, and high-yield explosive attacks from Brig. Gen. Patrick Murphy during a Transition of Authority (TOA) ceremony at the New York State Armory here.
Dinan's MP battalion has taken over command and control responsibilities, and the responsibility for providing soldiers to man the unit's decontamination line from the 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry. The members of Company C., based in Gloversville, formerly manned the decontamination line.
Murphy, the Director of Joint Forces, presided over the TOA ceremony.
Called a CERF-P, the acronym for for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package, the New York unit is one of 17 in the country and one of three that has been validated.
The unit has trained with the Fire Department New York, as part of their training.
